Long Week

Wow, first full week since the holidays began and wow, what a killer. On the job it’s the same old same old. In the Biz though we’re working on getting out a new module and hopefully getting ready to send Flight off to NAMM next week.

I might get to go next year, this year though I gotta stay home and do the work thing. Not too bad really, at least I won’t have to deal with airport security. Luckily we’re not sending a demo case or anything down with us, I can just imagine how much poking and prodding they’d have to do. I mean if they’re worried about a digital camera I can just imagine how much they’d freak out over a modular synthesizer.

Right now I’m doing grunt work like putting on nobs, putting together power cables, testing the cables, and doing what I do best writing up the manuals.

My back is killing me and I’m exhausted. Somehow though I really feel like I’ve done more this week than I’ve done in the past year. Games are fun for sure, but they just don’t compare with actually making something. Even if said something and all of its kin get shipped off to eager musicians waiting for a chance to push the poor thing to its limits. Then that’s really just part of the fun of the whole thing.

Sadly this week I haven’t played a single MMO. It was weird at first. Usually I log into something every night after work. This week though I just had so much to do that I didn’t even turn on my computer. The beast deserves a break though and I guess I do too. The more I played the games the more I just got frustrated with them.

Maybe I’ll get back to them sometime. Now though I’ve got a whole new industry to figure out and work in. I’ve been dabbling with music for the last couple of years and I’ve always loved it. It’s pretty cool to get a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to build some of the tools musicians use. It’s not something you see everyday and it’s cool to be a part of it.
